Remember this post? Tubs is still standing and looks like it received a few more touch-ups while I was gone. I walked around with my film camera and took a few shots the other day. What do you think? I’m a little sad about this part being painted over, but it still looks great.
As I mentioned several months ago, my original photos were used by a local news station to go with a story they did on the building’s new paint job. The video that accompanied the slideshow was a pretty negative and (I think) unfair portrayal of street art and the work local artists had done on Tubs, which was a little frustrating, but I’m curious to see what local opinions are on the building now. Personally I think it brightens the U-district.
Anyone know when the “proposed land use action” will come into effect?
