A Strangely Isolated Place*

Michelle and I went to Shibuya tonight because we had nothing else to do. As soon as we walked out of the station someone came up and surprised us – our friend Kenji – who seems to always be everywhere (we have all unexpectedly run into him on several occasions – seriously how does this happen in a city like Tokyo?). We had dinner at Suzu cafe, an artsy little place with a really intruiging menu (pizza with walnuts, brie, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella, and honey, for example! (it was good)), then after wandering around for a while went to gaze upon humanity from the starbucks that overlooks that famously busy crosswalk we’ve all seen in Lost in Translation.

He fell asleep about 30 seconds after this.

He fell asleep about 30 seconds after this.

No kidding.

No kidding.

Yeah, you.

*you know how I love to use song titles when I can’t think of a name – this one’s by Ulrich Schnauss. Seemed like a good fit, and its definitely a phrase I would use to describe Tokyo..

Black & white? A first on this blog, no?
